Help Wanted e1308583734534 How To Find High Paying Social Marketing Jobs Near YouBeing a marketer isn’t the easiest job in the world, especially when you seek marketing jobs. In fact, it requires a lot of effort, positive attitude, passion for technology and the ability to convince people. It’s fair to say that social media has changed the marketing landscape for good. Facebook, Twitter and other social networks have simplified the lives of marketers and provided never-seen-before opportunities to utilize the power of Internet for marketing campaigns.

So, if you are a social media expert, how do find high paying marketing jobs in your area? How do you approach prospect customers and showcase your social media expertise? How do you sell your services to customers in a mutually beneficial way? In this post, I walk through some of the most important tips to find high paying social marketing jobs near you.

Establish yourself as a social media expert in the local community

As a social media professional looking for new opportunities, it’s important to establish your presence as an expert in the local community. If you’ve done any innovative marketing campaigns in the past, make sure these are highlighted in your portfolio. As I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, I strongly believe social media is more common sense and less of rocket science.

Referrals for Marketing Jobs

Social media is all about the community spirit. Recommendations and referrals are perhaps the best tools for any professional/ business in the social media world. If you’ve done some commendable work, ask your customers to refer you for new assignments. Very often, I’m approached through prospects through existing customers who’ve been pleased with my services.

Networking for Marketing Jobs

If you’re a marketer, you need to have a strong professional network and social media marketing is no exception to that rule. You need to connect with other social media experts, customers, online marketers, advertising agencies and other like-minded professionals. You never know who might just offer you the next big break in the social media world. I find LinkedIn to be a great resource for building relationships and expanding my social network. I strongly suggest that social media experts should actively seek opportunities through localized job portals and local community websites.

Work Ethic for Marketing Jobs

As a social media marketer, it’s crucial to imbibe a strong work ethic. You need to be prepared to work long hours, keep pace with the dynamically evolving social media paradigms and be available as and when your customers need you. You must take your job seriously; respect your customer, employer and colleagues. Maintain professionalism at all times. Avoid personal tantrums – laziness, careless or being rude to others.

Without a strong work ethic, you will never succeed irrespective of how much you know about social media or how good a professional network you have.

Good points here.  I’d also add that you need to spend time nurturing your offline connections as well.  Join a local chapter of the American Marketing Association or other professional organization where you can stay connected both online and in person.
