Vincent...you are getting close to that dreaded 2000 mark which is very hard to get past...do this...First use tweepi to unfollow everyone who is not following you...you may also white list some people...after that you can use their geeki follow or just find friends you really like and follow their friends..You are allowed to follow 1000 a day...So after a couple days unfollow again and start over rinse and repeat..~good luck, it's hard work..DM me if you need help...
jude/rockingjude

...this was fascinating to me. I've been stalled at 1290 followers for several months now and the traditional approaches to building followers organically (retweeting, mentioning, providing regular and valuable updates, and participation in active hashtag discussions) have not yielded more than intermittent and incremental growth.

I found however, that Buzzom offered a tool, but one without much precision or visibility. You can get a list of likely people to follow, but cannot see much information about why you should. (They don't even expose the number of tweets, which to me is a vital statistic in considering someone to follow.) I usually look at the follower/following ratio, the number of updates over time, and a sampling of the past few (~8-20) updates to get an idea of someone's "quality of participation."

Tweet Guru offered an interface, but not one that offered a lot of background intelligence. You could put in several twitter ids and follow them all at once, but the method was no less cumbersome than simply choosing people using Tweetdeck or another UI tool.

Twitter Perch seems to be down right now as they refocus their efforts.

So my search goes on. How do I break the 1300 mark? I'm trying everything.

---v

Oh by the way: Follow me on Twitter! (http://twitter.com/agentv) :-)
